The first time I explained it to you
The words crashed into each other
And then shattered.

So I explained again more slowly
But the words slowed until they
Ground to a halt and were lost.

When I tried again they got
Twisted in your ear canal and
Warped inside your mind.

I lost patience and shouted so much
That the words were too big for
You to take them in without crushing them.

No matter how many times I explain it to you
You take my words and
Twist them,
Stretch them,
Shrink them,
Break them,
Turn them upside-down and
Inside-out and
Back-to-front

And I get so frustrated
It’s impossible to believe my own lie:
I don’t care what you think.

Even (or especially?) the most infuriating things can inspire us. This is about someone I know who just doesn't listen, and who absolutely refuses to understand.

If you like this poem, you may also enjoy the sister piece 'Words': [link]

Edit: Waah! The preview image is back! :omfg: Ok then, I say again: the preview image is kinda hard to read. I was just messing about with fonts and stuff, and I wanted you all to see it - but it really is best if you read the regular text version first.

I really like the last two lines, a lot. Also, the visualization was fun, although a bit hard to read at times. :D

This sounds a little bit like one of my older poems, Petite Stepping. But, this has a lot of individual strengths of meter that my poem does not. Great poem!

It is really touching...I know how it feels when you open up your soul to someone who does not even bother to listen to you..It's like talking to a wall... But we should not care for them..It's not worth it.
